Whilst the bakers were working hard during bread week on Tuesday (8 October), Noel was on hand to crack some jokes and provide some light relief to the stressed bakers. Chatting to one of the contestants, Noel asked Dylan what he wanted to do with his life to which he responded he wanted to be a chef. He then joked: “Chefs are always ugly. Yeah. You’re too handsome to be a chef. Have you seen Gordon Ramsay? He’s like an omelette with human eyes!”

Noel joked about Gordon Ramsay’s looks with contestant Dylan

Noel then sheepishly said: “Don’t put that in the show because he’ll beat me up… I am scared of Gordon Ramsay.” He then added: “Actually, he’s got sort of a devil may care pirate sort of sexiness about him.” Fans of the show were quick to pick up on the comment, with one commenting on social media: “Noel calling Gordon Ramsay an omelette with eyes is diabolical.” Another found the funnier side of the comment and wrote: “Gordon Ramsay is like an omelette with human eyes’ HAHAHA Noel makes #GBBO I swear!”. A third added: “Get someone that laughs at your jokes the way Dylan laughs at Noel’s.” Gordon himself almost had a role on Bake Off. He was offered a spot when the show moved to Channel 4 from the BBC prompting Mary Berry, Mel and Sue to quit in 2017. Gordon could have taken Mary’s spot as one of the judges, but turned it down saying at the time that he didn’t want “sloppy seconds”.

I’m 30 years younger and more wrinkly than her anyway.” At the time, Gordon also blasted the BBC for ‘selling’ the show saying “Bake Off is like the Queen; it’s something to be respected, listened to and cared for. Not sold off.” During Bread Week, Dylan was awarded Star Baker which came as a shock to some viewers as he came last in technical. However Dylan clawed his victory back during the showstopper challenge in which he received a Paul Hollywood handshake. For John, his time in the tent was over after he failed to impress the judges. Noel was left to deliver the sad news, and talking to the camera after his exit, John said he “expected” to go.
