The actress, known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, took to Instagram to share the sad news along with a touching photo of her furry friend. In an emotional post, she wrote: “We have just had say goodbye to our best friend Gorgeous George Paws. Love them hard and let them go when they tell you it’s time. RIP Georgy xxx #gorgeousgeorgepaws.” Her Corrie co-stars were quick to offer their condolences, with Julia Goulding (Shona Platt) writing: “No! Sue, I’m so so sorry my love. Gorgeous George Paws. Such a beautiful happy dog. You gave him such a wonderful life. Sending love.”

Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, also commented: “I’m so sorry Sue”, reports the Manchester Evening News. Former soap star Hayley Tamaddon added: “Oh nooooooo sue! Little George… I’m so sorry. Sending massive hugs.” Fans and followers also expressed their sympathy, one wrote: “So sorry to hear this Sue. We loved hearing all about Gorgeous George. Sending love. ” A second commented: “Oh Sue I’m so sorry to hear this. RIP George Paws. ” A third added: “Sending love Sue, what a gorgeous boy.” Even more shared heartfelt messages after she shared the sad news of her pet’s passing, another wrote: “So very sorry for your loss run free beautiful angel. ” Someone else added: “So sorry you have had to say goodbye to your beautiful boy, it’s heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet, they really are part of the family”.

Meanwhile, Sue has been spotted back on the cobbles as Eileen after taking a break to star as Mother Superior in Sister Act The Musical. Her former co-star Wendi Peters, who played Cilla Brown, is now taking over the role for its UK tour. Sue has also recently opened up about having an accident on set which knocked her out. She opened up about the moment in her upcoming memoir A Work in Progress. During an intense scene back in 2012, co-star Judy Holt, acting as Lesley, unintentionally landed an uppercut that sent Sue straight to dreamland on set. Sue shared the scary details in her book, saying: “We had a stunt adviser and had spent some time practising our manoeuvres but unfortunately during a take, Judy got a bit carried away.
