Privacy Notice DIY SOS star Nick Knowles has been beset by injuries since he signed up to dance show Strictly Come Dancing, and his future on the series has been in doubt since he damaged his knee during rehearsals last week. He and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk had to skip Movie Week on Saturday 5 October since he was on crutches, and he was given a ‘bye’ allowing him to stay in the competition for one more week. However, when Nick appeared on It Takes Two on Wednesday, he still wasn’t sure whether he would be fit for the dancefloor this Saturday. Now, with just one day to go before the next Strictly live episode, the decision on whether Nick can compete has finally been announced, and it is very good news. On Friday’s It Takes Two it was revealed that Nick will be well enough to hit the dancefloor this Saturday.

Nick’s knee injury occurred when he “leapt into position” and one leg stayed still, causing him to collapse and put pressure on the other knee. Speaking to host Janette Manrara on It Takes Two earlier in the week, Nick was still hopeful he would be fit enough to return to the show. He said: “Each day it gets a little better. On Friday, it looked pretty bad, to be honest, and it felt bad on Saturday. But I got a scan and we had a look at that and decided that we would wait until Monday.” He continued: “It’s a little stronger today, I got to see the physios and did a lot of rehab and saw the doctors. We have decided that they may give me the clearance to try and dance tomorrow. If I can rehearse, they will make the final decision on Friday – we’ll see how I do tomorrow.” He must have done well, as the doctors have cleared him to dance once more. At the end of last month, Nick also suffered an injury to his arm and shoulder while he was changing a tyre by the side of the road, but it didn’t prevent him performing an American Smooth later that week to the Blur song Parklife. Nick will be performing the dance he would have been doing for Movies week, the Charleston to Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2, which he chose for his 10 year old son Eddie.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
