Privacy Notice EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, has found himself at the centre of a new ‘fix’ scandal on Strictly Come Dancing after his Elton John-inspired quickstep wowed the judges. The 30 year old actor, complete with feather boa, became one of the standout performers of the evening, sparking accusations from viewers that the judges are swaying the public by backing Jamie for the win. Previously crowned the victor of the Strictly Christmas Special with a similarly impressive quickstep, Jamie’s latest routine to Elton’s hit ‘I’m Still Standing’ earned him a whopping score of 30, fuelling fan claims of an unfair edge. The panel was effusive in their commendation, with Anton Du Beke suggesting Jamie could be a frontrunner for the Glitterball Trophy, saying, “You know you really are a super super dancer. I think you could be one of the favourites to lift the trophy to be quite honest with you. I think you are an exceptional talent.”

Motsi Mabuse echoed this sentiment, hinting at Jamie’s proximity to the coveted prize: “Yes, Anton, I think the Glitterball is quite close to you!” Host Tess Daly highlighted the significance of the judges’ comments, noting, “Thank you judges. Two out of four mentioned the Glitterball… that’s big news!” Jamie tried to stay humble about the praise and remarked that it’s too soon to be thinking about victory, saying: “It’s a bit too early to be mentioning the Glitterball, but nonetheless, I appreciate everything they say.” Social media was abuzz with viewers suggesting Jamie had an ‘unfair advantage’. One viewer expressed their scepticism online, stating: “The judges mentioning the glitterball after Jamie’s quickstep, the dance that won him the Christmas special last year. If that’s not a coincidence I don’t know what is.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Moreover, Jamie has quashed any whispers of succumbing to the infamous Strictly curse, confidently stating “nobody has to worry”. Despite the apparent spark between the EastEnders actor and his professional dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, Jamie has made it clear there’s no room for romance. He shared with The Mirror, chuckling: “The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it’s definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be weird doing that with my sister. Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend. She’s looking after me, she’s mothering me.”
