Privacy NoticeIt seems the Strictly Come Dancing stars share more than just their fancy footwork. Comedian Chris McCausland, 47, has made quite a journey since his first appearance on the dance show, scoring an impressive 30 points last week for his Jive to Wayne’s World/Bohemian Rhapsody with professional partner Dianne Buswell. This was a massive seven-point increase from week one, placing him joint fourth on the leaderboard alongside several pairs, including Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas. Chris and Jamie, 30, have been busy perfecting their routines as the show introduced a new theme: Icons Week. Now, it is reported that there’s a connection between the two contestants that goes back way before their time in the ballroom. According to Jamie’s IMDB page, he began his acting career on a well-known comedy series before landing his iconic role as Jay Brown in BBC’s EastEnders. In 2006, he appeared in two episodes of the first season of the highly-rated Not Going Out – featuring Lee Mack, Sally Bretton, Katy Wix, and Hugh Dennis. Jamie had minor, uncredited roles, playing ‘Aggressive Boy’ in the episode ‘Aussie’ and ‘Young Chav’ two episodes later in ‘Kid’. The same year, he joined the soaps where he has appeared in over 1,300 EastEnders episodes, and is also credited for roles in Gina’s Laughing Gear and Celebrate Oliver.

Chris, known for his witty one-liners and appearances on TV panels, actually began his career in showbiz with a few acting roles. While Jamie was busy filming Not Going Out, Chris bagged the role of Rudi in the children’s show Me Too. Interestingly, he also made a cameo in Not Going Out last year, playing the character Martin. Chris’ acting portfolio also reveals that he appeared in an episode of EastEnders in 2018 as the character Carl. This suggests that Chris and Jamie could have had their first dance-off at a lock-in at the Queen Vic. Tonight, Chris is set to heat things up with a Salsa to Down Under by Men at Work, while Jamie will be performing the same style dance to Danza Kuduro by Don Omar and Lucenzo.

This comes after, Jamie was met with a shocked reaction from his co-stars when he joked about spending a ‘delirious night’ with his professional dance partner. The star was sitting in the studio talking to Claudia Winkleman, having just been sent through to the next round when he made the cheeky revelation. After thanking the viewers for voting for him, Claudia quickly moved on to the fact that Jamie does impressions of the judges. Jamie then looked at his partner, Michelle Tsiakkas, and said: “We had a delirious night the other night; we were lying there.” It was met with surprised faces and ‘oohs’ from his co-stars. Jamie jumped in quickly to confirm it was “on the rehearsal floor!” As Jamie attempted to explain himself, Coronation Street’s Shayne Ward shouted “spill the beans” as comedian Chris McCausland asked “does it need a ‘doof doof’?” referring to Jamie’s soap opera gig at EastEnders where he plays Jay Brown.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
