Privacy Notice Fans of comedian Chris McCausland are calling on the star to join another long running TV show following his success on Strictly Come Dancing. Stand up comedian Chris, 47, who has made history as the hit BBC show’s first ever blind contestant, is currently starring on the competition paired with professional dancer Dianne Buswell. The pair have scored highly from the judges, becoming a favourite for the final. Last week’s special Movie Week saw them perform a lively jive tribute to Wayne’ World, which ‘stunned’ viewers and earned the pair their highest score yet, with an impressive 30 points.

His solid status as a fan-favourite and impressive performances have spurred fans to speculate on the other shows he could turn his hand to next, with users on Reddit making a suggestion which has particularly caught viewers’ imaginations. Fans have suggested that Chris should join the lineup of Taskmaster – and many agree that he would be a perfect fit for the hit Channel 4 comedy challenge show. One user wrote: “Chris McCausland would be amazing!” They went on to explain: “I would really like for Chris to be a part of Taskmaster. He was just on David Mitchell’s Outsiders, so I def think he could do very well at TM.” But, they posed the question: “But would they have to change the tasks at all?” Other users were quick to point out that there might be one problem when it comes to Chris joining the cast of the hit show: being blind, he wouldn’t be able to read out the tasks – a core element of the TV show.

It would also be tricky as Chris has previously shared that he can’t read Braille well – which of course would otherwise be a simple adaptation to make. One user wrote, about the Taskmaster challenges: “Well, yeah, a lot of them require being able to see. Like, even anything that involves running around the house picking things up, he’d be doing that much slower than anyone else so any timed task would be unfair.” They reasoned: “He has been in Outsiders, but that’s a show where he was always part of a team so it wasn’t a problem.” One added: “Alex would have to tone down his sass a bit whenever he says “all the information is on the task” However, Chris continues to break stereotypes on Strictly, and has appeared on many of the UK’s most popular TV shows without problem, so an appearance on Taskmaster shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, Chris regularly appears on panel shows like Have I Got News For You, which include a visual picture round. Speaking to the BBC All Access podcast about how he films with those visual formats, which is more simple than many might think. He explained of the production teams: “They meet me halfway… They change one of the rounds to an audio round or something similar.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
