Privacy Notice Strictly Come Dancing fans are all saying the same thing about Pete Wicks on the hit BBC show. While the TOWIE star, 35, who is paired with professional dancer Jowita Przystal, was previously branded “cocky” and “arrogant” by some viewers, many have claimed he’s been misjudged, saying he has a “vulnerable” side behind his tough guy persona. One wrote on social media: “JUST because he has an ‘arrogant/cocky/over confident’ persona does not define him! Has anyone actually thought it was a cover?? Strictly has brought out a vulnerable and broken side! He’s human – as are we all! Let’s get behind him,” while another said: “He seems quite a vulnerable person somehow, though with a very dry deadpan humour.”

Someone else commented: “I didn’t know him at all until this year’s Strictly. He seems to put himself down as a way to cover up his insecurity. He seems like a kind, sensitive soul to me and he’s better at dancing than he thinks,” and a fourth added: “I love Pete, love his humour and you can see he’s a good fella.” Others praised him for not taking himself too seriously and embracing the routines. “Pete Wicks is everything I love about #Strictly he’s now been strictly-fied and it’s brilliant to watch him embrace the madness and let loose,” one said,” while someone else added: “At least Pete doesn’t take himself seriously.” It comes after Pete impressed judges with his George of the Jungle dance during Movie Week, receiving a total score of 26. Commenting on the routine, Motsi Mabuse referred to the fact the judges demanded he should loosen up for the jungle-themed performance, which saw him dancing in a leopard-print loin cloth, in the previous show, saying: “I blame us for this occasion of what is happening here.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “You don’t take yourself too seriously, but you take the dance very seriously. You take risks – that’s a risk. It was full of content. You attempted to do a slow-quick-quick which probably I’m going to appreciate.” She continued: “You got it slightly off but you’re not going to overlook that because you really attempted to do something a little bit more out of the ordinary. I have to commend you. It’s great to see you improving so well done to you.” Pete later said of George of the Jungle: “I absolutely hate the film, but I absolutely love the Samba. George loves the Samba.” Jowita then gushed: “Any idea I picture you go with it. You never say no and you always want to be fully in. You’re my number one George. Better than the movie.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
