Privacy Notice Having first appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, Claudia Winkleman has become a familiar face on our screens. After starting off as the presenter of It Takes Two, in 2010 Claudia began co-hosting the Sunday night results show before moving to presenting duties on both the Saturday and Sunday night slot in 2014 alongside Tess Daly. But while she may be a staple part of Saturday nights for viewers up and down the country, the 52 year old tends to keep her family life away from the spotlight. The presenter, who is married to Kris Thykier, is private when it comes to her family, though has opened up about parenting over the years.

Back in 2023, The Traitors presenter, who is mum to Jake, 20, Matilda, 17, and Arthur, 12, revealed that she was stepping back from her Radio 2 show and outlined her desire to spend more time with her children. “Here’s the thing and it is such a boring cliché so I apologise. Time is going too fast. My daughter is getting ready to leave home and she was 3 about 5 minutes ago,” she said. “I still have a little one who wants to be with me. I don’t know how long that will last and I just need to be at home more.” Meanwhile, Claudia also paid a sweet tribute to her children when she made her Instagram debut back in 2014. As she posted her first picture on the platform, she shared a sweet snap showing the backs of her children Matilda and Arthur. “My first photo,” she captioned the post. Also on Instagram, the TV icon shared a snap of the back of Jake’s head in 2019 as he looked over a sunset. “16-year-old said he’d only come away with me if it was ‘unusual’. We are in love with you Iceland,” she wrote. Elsewhere, Claudia has previously spoken about her parenting style and revealed that child therapist Tanya Byron, co-host of her How Did We Get Here? podcast, once dubbed her “the worst parent alive”. Speaking to The Times, the TV personality explained how Tanya had heard her speaking to her son Jake, who was 15 at the time, where she promised to record an Arsenal football match and transferred money to his phone so he could buy a sandwich. “[Tanya] said, ‘You’re curling, smoothing everything in his path. You’re not teaching him any form of resilience,” she revealed. “What he needs to do is be caught in the rain, not be able to afford Subway. He needs to work out, ‘Oh, I bought McDonald’s fries yesterday.’ He needs to miss the Arsenal match. Then he’ll learn. And you’re not helping him.’”

Meanwhile, back in 2014 Claudia’s daughter Matilda suffered serious burns in a Halloween costume fire when she was just eight years old. In an interview with BBC One’s Watchdog in 2015, the mum-of-three opened up about the accident as she hoped to prevent similar accidents. “Everyone was screaming. She was screaming, all the kids there were screaming,” she said. “It feels like she was on fire for hours but the surgeon said that definitely wasn’t the case and it was probably just seconds.” She added: “It’s life-changing but not life defining. It was definitely life-changing for me. I can’t remember life before it.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
