Privacy NoticeFormer Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice is reportedly ‘devastated’ over Amanda Abbington’s allegations about his behaviour. A pal of the dance sensation, who has since moved back to Rome to star in an Italian version of the dance show, claimed that Giovanni has had a tough time defending his reputation following their partnership on Strictly’s 2023 series. Despite a BBC investigation upholding six out of 17 complaints made by Amanda, Giovanni felt vindicated as the most severe accusations were not substantiated. A source told MailOnline: “It has been awful for Giovanni. He has had to read stories about himself that weren’t true for more than six months and then, the verdict of the inquiry showed that he hadn’t done all of the things that Amanda or her friends had been telling the media.”

The insider added: “But just when he thought it was over he could move on, Amanda decided to go out and spout more horrible things […] which were not upheld by the BBC’s investigators – and it takes its toll. She did interviews where she seemed to go unchallenged about things that were not deemed to be proved by the BBC’s HR department. He just can’t see why any of this is fair. It’s like he is being tormented,” reports the Mirror. Rumours have emerged that the Italian dancer might be looking for a route back into Strictly Come Dancing, despite the backstage drama, after announcing news of a UK tour, Together Again, with his ‘best friend’ and Strictly judge Anton Du Beke. Sharing the news n Instagram, Giovanni announced ecstatically: “BREAKING NEWS! If you were wondering now is confirmed ! ! the double act is back on the road ! Me and my best friend @mrantondubeke are back on tour next summer ! www.antonandgiovanni.com See you all there.”

An informant claimed: “Giovanni has not given up on appearing on the Strictly stage. As far as he is concerned, he has been cleared and there is no reason why he couldn’t return. He has told his pals he is hoping to be back next year and is keen to speak to the BBC about it. He still feels very much part of the fold, and has a massive fan base who would no doubt welcome him back. But of course the final decision will be made by BBC bosses.” OK! has contacted the BBC, Giovanni and Amanda Abbington’s representatives for comments.
