Privacy Notice DIY SOS star Nick Knowles’ time on Strictly Come Dancing has sadly been marred by injuries, and on Sunday 13 October his journey on the show came to an end. He was voted off the dancing competition after he and professional partner Luba Mushtuk ended up in the bottom two alongside Shayne Ward and Mancy Xu, and all four judges elected to save Shayne and send Nick home. After performing a Charleston to Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2, the dance he should have performed during Movie Week which he had missed last week due to a knee injury, Nick found himself saying goodbye to Luba and his fellow dancers, becoming the third celebrity after Tom Dean and Toyah Willcox to leave the competition.

Nick took to social media on Sunday evening to share his thoughts on his time on the show. “Well that’s the end of the road for me on @bbcstrictly,” he said, adding a sad face emoji. “But after the injury last week, getting back on the dance floor felt like a win in itself! Gutted I couldn’t stay longer to bring the amazing dances super talented @lubamushtuk had planned to life, but it’s been a fantastic journey.” He added: “Wishing the best of luck to all the competitors – they’re such a lovely bunch. It’s been a lot of fun, and a reminder that it’s never too late to try something new! Thank you so much to everyone for all their support.” Luba also posted a photo from their Paddington routine and wrote: “I might not have another chance to be on the dance floor with you, @nickknowles, but I’ve had the honor of partnering with an incredible man and a brilliant student. Thank you for everything, but mostly thank you for being you. You are amazing!! And you did your absolute best! I will never forget this experience!” “And I promise, one way or another, I will make that “Argentine Tango” you were looking forward to happen. Oh and of course “More energy and more passion” Always.” Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Unfortunately, Nick suffered two injuries during his time on Strictly, beginning with a strain to his arm and shoulder when he was changing a tyre by the side of the road before the second live show. Then, during rehearsals for Movie Week, he was practising a jump when he landed badly, damaging his knee. In a video to fans he explained what had happened: “”After the tough week I had last week, everything was going really, really well this week, in fact training is going really well and I started, I think, and according to Luba, to dance very well. But during rehearsals today, the first run-through of the dance, this Charleston, the Paddington Bear 2 Charleston that we were doing, I managed to sort of fall and hurt my knee.” He continued: “The medics were great, the physios were great, lots of ice on it … But after having a look at it, they decided that I need an MRI scan. I’m hoping that the injury is not too bad, and that I can take some days off to let it rest and maybe do some strengthening exercises, and I’ll be able to dance again next week. So, stick with me, we’re not calling time on it yet. We have to wait and see what the medics say.” Nick was able to dance on Saturday night after resting his knee most of the week, but it turned out to be his last dance of the show.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
