Privacy NoticeWynne Evans, one of the contestants on BBC Strictly Come Dancing, might be facing an exit risk after last weekend’s ‘controversy’. Currently, bookmakers have him at 5/1 as the third likely to be voted off the show while his chances of winning have dropped significantly – he now stands at 33/1, down from 20/1. Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady remarked: “Wynne Evans was embroiled in controversy over the weekend which has taken a big toll on his popularity. He is now in the danger zone to be the fourth celebrity eliminated from the show.” This comes amid footage from Saturday’s live show showing Katya Jones swiftly correcting Wynne’s hand placement on her waist.

Questions arose about their rapport due to another moment where Katya seemingly ignored Wynne’s attempt at a high five. Following social media speculation fuelled by these clips, they took to video to reassure fans that what appeared was simply an ongoing ‘joke’ between them. Subsequently, Katya made clear in her own video that she feels neither “uncomfortable nor offended” by Wynne, dismissing the stories as “complete nonsense” and “actually absurd”. She underscored her feelings: “The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd.” As for Wynne, during the handover before his BBC Radio Wales programme, he expressed being “heartbroken” over the recent situation and shared his distress. “Firstly I would say that I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day and it’s hard. It’s not nice to live in that time. But basically, Katya and I are really, really close, and we’re really good friends and on Saturday night, we made a stupid joke. It was a stupid joke that went wrong. We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has being totally misinterpreted.” He then elaborated on his friendship with Katya and the nature of the event: “Everything’s on Katya’s socials. She’s talked about it. She’s explained it was a joke. She wasn’t offended in the least. She doesn’t feel uncomfortable. We’ve got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship and I’m sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was just a joke, and that’s all there is.”

Finally, reflecting on the need to apologise, Wynne noted: “There is no real story, really and I feel weird apologising because I feel like I’ve not really done anything.” Paul Merson is currently leading the pack as the favourite to be the next contestant eliminated, with odds standing at 6/5. Meanwhile, Chris McCausland continues to win over the public and is considered the one to beat with odds also at 6/5. Not far behind is Tasha Ghouri, who is hot on his heels at 11/4, especially after topping the leaderboard.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
