The set, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales, has long been rumoured to have a ghostly presence, with cast members reporting everything from ghost sightings to unexplained noises. But it’s the strange goings-on inside Jai Sharma’s house that have really got people talking. At the Inside Soap Awards 2024, some of the show’s biggest names opened up about their spooky experiences. Katie Hill, who plays Sarah Sugden, recounted a chilling tale from her co-star Rosie Bentham. Speaking to the Express, she said: “Apparently, Rosie was filming downstairs in Jai’s house and they heard a dragging noise from something along the floorboards.”

She revealed: “So, someone went upstairs to see what it was, and an old wooden wardrobe had been dragged across the room and no one was in there.” Daisy Campbell, known to viewers as Amelia Spencer, confirmed the creepy story and said: “That’s what I’ve heard, but I’ve never witnessed anything.” She discovered the hair-raising story while at the spooky site. The 21 year old actress remembered: “Rosie told me about the whole wardrobe thing when I was filming in the house on that day. And I was like, ‘Thank you. You could’ve waited until we’d finished filming!'” Even Emmerdale veterans Dominic Brunt and Lisa Riley have felt the chill of the eerie abode, with both sharing tales of superstitions linked to the locale. Dominic shared: “It’s a real house and you can get up into the attic but it’s never been touched. It is really scary because it’s in the middle of the field, literally in the middle of nowhere so you definitely wouldn’t want to stay over there overnight. “But I’ve heard so many people have said doors have shut behind them and seen people appearing in windows or moving wardrobes.”

It’s always that house they mention.” Eden Taylor-Draper and James Chase, spoke about their daunting storyline and admitted that shooting amongst such unnerving surroundings added to the intensity. James commented: “It’s Jai Sharma’s house which is rumoured to be haunted. “Nobody goes upstairs, nobody likes to film there.” The blonde beauty expressed her relief that they didn’t spot anything eerie while filming in the cellar.
