Privacy NoticePrince William echoed the thoughts of England fans everywhere last night when he shared his own emotional message following the football team’s nerve-shredding victory over Slovakia. The post, which was signed off with a W to prove it was written personally by him, echoed the thoughts of England fans everyone over the lacklustre start to the game and its triumphant conclusion. William was watching as Jude Bellingham’s last-gasp overhead kick took England level before Harry Kane fired in another goal to clinch victory. The royal, 42, wrote on his and Kate’s official Prince and Princess of Wales account on X: “Emotional rollercoaster! Let’s go England!” The royal added with his customary positivity: “Quarter finals here we come! W.”

One follower replied: “We can all imagine Prince William yelling Let’s go England!” Another told him: “WHAT A GAME!!! I can imagine how much you must have celebrated the goals.” Another asked him to put a call in to his friend, England manager Gareth Southgate, saying: “Ah go on – give Southgate a bit of a tickle & ‘suggest’ he might find it helpful to put Ollie & Ezri on to start next game.” England beat Slovakia after extra-time to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 in the early kick-off yesterday and will now play Switzerland at 5pm on Saturday. Prince William is not thought to have been in the stadium yesterday afternoon, though he was pictured in the stands for the group game against Denmark in Frankfurt, Germany, late last month. He regularly attends big football matches in his capacity as president of the Football Association, the governing body of soccer in England and Wales. In May we saw him alongside son Prince George, 10, in Wembley during the FA Cup final match between Manchester United and Manchester City.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
