Privacy NoticeMeghan Markle married into the Royal Family in 2018 when she tied the knot with Prince Harry. She quickly had to get used to the Royal way of life, as well as living in the UK, which didn’t come without its challenges. One person who many thought would be a good support to Meghan, 43, was the Princess of Wales, 42, as she had also married into the family years before. However, it’s claimed that the two women struggled to build a friendship. Tensions then rose between Meghan and Kate in the lead up to Meghan and Harry’s wedding. It was reported at the time that the pair had disagreed over bridesmaids dresses, leading to tears.

It was initially reported that Meghan had made Kate cry, however it was later clarified that it was Meghan who had been reduced to tears. Harry, 39, has also confirmed that Kate sent flowers to apologise for the disagreement. Author Tom Bower shares a different version of events in his book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, as he claims Meghan compared Princess Charlotte to her best pal Jessica Mulroney’s daughter Ivy. Tom’s book quotes unnamed sources, which said Meghan “compared Princess Charlotte unfavourably to her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter”. MailOnline reported that the book claims that Kate had been “tired” after welcoming her third child Prince Louis. He was born in April – just weeks before the Sussexes’ big day.
Kate was unhappy with Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress
Kate was reportedly “too fatigued” to row with Meghan over whether or not her bridesmaids should wear tights, as Royal protocol suggested they should. The Duchess was sure she didn’t want her bridesmaids wearing tights, and was backed by pall Jessica. The book claims Kate felt Charlotte’s dress “was too short”, and Meghan’s inability to “compromise” upset her. However, Meghan told her side of the story during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. She said: “She [Kate] was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised. And she bought me flowers. A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.”

Meghan added: “And I thought, in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing whatever everyone else was doing, which was trying to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot. “It wasn’t a confrontation, and I actually think it’s… I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that, because she apologised.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
