Privacy NoticeWhen Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step back from their Royal duties, it meant they also lost their full taxpayer-funded protection. Being a security official for the Royal Family is no walk in the park. It requires top-notch physical fitness, mental sharpness, and an eagle eye for spotting potential threats from afar. And of course, discretion is key when discussing the royals you’re tasked with protecting. This is why most members of the Royal family are given code names, and Harry and Meghan were no different. After Queen Elizabeth II passed away, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton assumed the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.

But during their time as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they were known to their security team as ‘Daphne Clark’ and ‘Danny Collins’, with the initials DC representing Duke or Duchess of Cambridge, reports the Mirror. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series in 2022 saw an emotional Meghan discussing the death threats she faced and her concerns for her children’s safety. Harry first took legal action against the Home Office over the decision to downgrade his security in 2020. The High Court dismissed his case after ruling that the decision was lawful, however, the Court of Appeal has now stated that it will hear Harry’s challenge following a direct application from the Prince’s lawyers. At an earlier hearing, Harry’s written submission highlighted his deep connection to the UK, which he considers ‘home’ and an integral part of his children, Archie and Lilibet’s heritage. He stated: “The UK is a place I want them to feel at home, as much as where they live at the moment in the United States. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
