Privacy NoticeRoyal writer Tom Bower has claimed that Prince Harry gave Meghan Markle a list of three things she couldn’t talk about during her 2017 interview with Vanity Fair journalist Sam Kashner. The interview, which took place just two months before she and Harry announced their engagement, was supposed to be focused on her mixed-race background and her role on the TV show Suits. During the interview, Meghan appeared to attempt to steer the conversation away from her relationship with Harry – something the Prince reportedly asked her to do. Writing about the interview in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, Tom said: “Kashner arrived at Meghan’s home and was told that his interviewee had been given strict instructions by both Harry and Keleigh Thomas Morgan [a publicist at PR firm Sunshine Sachs].

“Knowing that Diana and Sarah Ferguson had ruined their reputations in interviews, Harry had asked Meghan to keep quiet about sensitive subjects – Donald Trump, race, their relationship and especially himself. He was not to be mentioned.” However, it didn’t work out entirely to plan, with Meghan appearing on the magazine cover alongside the headline ‘She’s Just Wild About Harry’. The couple were reportedly left rather unhappy with this, with Tom continuing: “Within hours, Meghan called Ken Sunshine [founder of Sunshine Sachs Consultants] and Keleigh Thomas Morgan. “Hysterically, she described Buckingham Palace’s fury at ‘Wild About Harry’. Sunshine Sachs said Meghan should have ensured that her comments about Harry were removed. Why wasn’t the focus on her philanthropy and activism?”

Back in 2017 Harry may not have wanted public attention drifting to either his relationship or his public life, but his views on this seem to have changed in recent years, with 2023 seeing him publish his memoir Spare. The book was filled with shocking claims and revelations against the Royal Family and 39-year-old Harry even claimed that he had enough material for a second memoir. However, he is said to have since scrapped plans for a second book. And in February, Harry spoke to Good Morning America where he revealed that King Charles himself informed him that he’d been diagnosed with cancer, and said: “I spoke to him.” Good Morning America’s Will Reeve, who was interviewing Harry, then asked what he did after he spoke with his dad. Harry answered: “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.” The Duke of Sussex then shared that he was thankful for the chance to see his father, though kept tight-lipped when talking about the monarch’s health. He said: “That stays between me and him.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
