Privacy Notice Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall has confessed that her bandmates once tried to play matchmaker with none other than Prince Harry. Chatting to Nick Grimshaw on the BBC Sounds podcast Sidetracked, Jade discussed her lengthy career, which has spanned almost 15 years and began on The X Factor. During the episode, Jade revealed her Little Mix bandmates Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock tried to set her up with Prince Harry at the Royal Variety Performance in 2015. Opening up to Nick, she reminisced about being the singleton among them with Perrie cozied up with One Direction’s Zayn Malik, Leigh-Anne was in a relationship with Ashford Town football club player Jordan Kiffin, and Jesy was engaged to Shane Richie’s son Jake Roche. “We did the Royal Variety performance, and I was single at the time and all the girls were like, ‘oh, [Prince] Harry – you could be in with a chance! ‘ I was like, ‘oh god, here we go. They were being those sort of friends! ‘” chuckled Jade.

As Harry approached, Jade got the jitters, reports the Mirror. “And then you know he is going down the line and…. I started getting nervous – I wasn’t even [really] arsed, but [then I started thinking]… Suddenly I was like Princess Diaries in my brain – like just in case! I shook his hand,” she recounted while sharing how Jesy was all excitement as they met the Royal heartthrob. “I was thinking…not in front of the Prince of England! I’m all for wing women on a night out but not in that situation! He must have thought what a weirdo! ” she laughed. “I can’t flirt anyways, so there was definitely nothing like that. But maybe I did a slight over-linger on the handshake just to catch a vibe. But there definitely wasn’t one. I wish him well.” Jade also regaled listeners with a rather embarrassing tale from her performing days when she succumbed to illness onstage after a hefty “Sunday roast”. Describing the incident to Nick, she revealed: “I did s**t myself on stage once. It was on one of the Little Mix arena tours and I wasn’t very well, I was really poorly and I had a Sunday roast before I went on stage.”

“So, I was dancing with the devil a bit there – and at the beginning of the show we’d rise up on a man-lift it would be like this big introduction – and I was with my security and I had to crouch down before we [were] lifted up. And I had, like, a nervous fart and I sharted! And then I turned around to the security. I went ‘I’ve s**t myself’,” Jade spilled with a chuckle. Despite the mishap, she had no choice but to continue the concert in the same costume, as no wardrobe change was scheduled until later. “But the show must go on!” she chuckled.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
