Privacy NoticeThe frosty royal rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the Prince and Princess of Wales doesn’t seem to be warming up anytime soon. Since their dramatic departure from royal duties, the Sussexes have taken several swipes at William and Kate, with relations between the two couples reportedly almost non-existent. However, despite their ongoing feud, a royal book has claimed that the Waleses extended a “small gesture” of reconciliation to Harry and Meghan after an emotional evening at Buckingham Palace. This alleged olive branch was reportedly offered in the days following the death of the late Queen, when all members of the Royal Family gathered at the palace after the former monarch’s coffin was brought there before being taken to Westminster Hall the next day for the lying in state. As the family awaited the arrival of the coffin, an informal supper brought the two feuding couples together, according to the new biography Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story by author Robert Hardman, reports the Mirror. It was during this time that William and Kate extended a small olive branch, a gesture that would have been approved by Queen Elizabeth II. Robert Hardman reveals: “Inside the palace, all members of the Royal Family were there to welcome the Queen back to royal headquarters for the last time, followed by an informal supper. Afterwards, the Prince and Princess of Wales suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should attach their car to their police escort for the journey back to Windsor since they were all going the same way. It was only a small gesture (they would not be sharing a car) and nowhere near any sort of reconciliation. However, the late Queen would have approved.” Sign up to OK’s royal newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

The passing of the Queen occurred just months before Harry and Meghan’s explosive Netflix docuseries, where they unveiled shocking revelations about life in the Firm. Both William and King Charles were heavily criticised in the series, with William accused of “screaming and shouting” and King Charles of “lying” at a high-profile summit. However, a friend revealed to author Robert that Harry’s apparent dig at Kate in his Netflix series was the “lowest of the low” for Prince William. Speaking in the first episode of the Netflix documentary, Harry said: “I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with.” According to the controversial new book, insiders claim it was evident he was referring to William and Kate. A confidante revealed to the author: “On top of all the other breaches of trust, here was Harry making a blatant attack on Catherine. For William, this was the lowest of the low.” Just weeks later, when Harry released his tell-all memoir Spare, he didn’t shy away from sharing intimate details about Kate, including an alleged spat between her and Meghan. In his book, he recounts how Kate purportedly ‘grimaced’ after Meghan used her lip gloss and narrates their clash following an offhand comment by Meghan suggesting that Kate was suffering from “baby brain” following the birth of Prince Louis.
