Privacy NoticePrince Harry’s personal relationships have reportedly been hit hard by the Home Office’s decision to downscale his security detail when in the UK. It’s been reported that while Prince Harry’s pals based in Britain are keen to see him more, the official stipulation to notify authorities 28 days ahead of visiting the country means he can mostly only make it back for significant celebrations or well-scheduled public engagements. A source shared that because of these constraints, it looks like he might sadly miss his uncle Robert Fellowes’ funeral next week. The late Queen’s companion died aged 82 earlier this month. Harry’s representatives have to alert the Home Office a month before any planned trips to arrange proper security measures. “Harry didn’t have plans to visit the UK this summer so when something last-minute arises like a funeral, it becomes a very difficult situation to navigate,” the source conveyed.

“Harry would like to spend more time in Britain, but it’s a logistical nightmare for his team due to ongoing security issues.” When pressed if there’d be any leeway given for emergency trips like attending a family funeral, an official spokesperson reiterated: “The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security. It would not be appropriate to comment on ongoing legal proceedings.” Prince Harry has made waves by stepping outside convention not once, but twice the Duke of Sussex attended his grandmother’s heavily-guarded funeral in September 2022 and previously returned to the UK amid King Charles’s cancer announcement. “Harry has made visits to the UK in the past, but the security issue has remained a constant concern,” an insider explained. The continuous concerns over safety have taken a toll on Prince Harry’s ability to maintain relationships with those closest to him, according to another source.

“There have been times when Harry couldn’t attend events that he was invited to,” the source disclosed. “It’s a shame because there are family members who love him dearly and he still has several close friends in the UK.” The Sussexes find themselves dubbed ‘the uninvitables’, as attending functions seems nearly out of the question for the couple. Exclusive information from Express.co.uk last month indicated that Harry and Meghan put a pause on seeking a British home, citing security fears. Prince Harry has expressed his deep concerns about safety, saying, “All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read,” and highlighting the potential dangers by adding, “And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.” The Duke of Sussex has been embroiled in an ongoing dispute with the Home Office regarding security arrangements when he’s in the UK. The contention arose after the Home Office denied his offer to personally fund police protection while visiting. Harry is currently appealing this decision. Since stepping down from Royal duties in 2020, Harry has relocated to the United States with Meghan Markle and their children. The UK Government maintains that Harry should cover his own security costs unless he’s attending official Royal events or is in the company of the Royal Family.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
