Privacy NoticeRoyal enthusiasts were over the moon when Princess Eugenie shared an incredibly rare and adorable snap of her two young children from their summer holidays in Portugal. The Princess took to Instagram to post a heartwarming picture of herself, seen from behind, strolling on a boardwalk towards the beach with both of her sons, August, three, and Ernest, one, in tow. Eugenie was dressed perfectly for the weather in a white and blue summery dress and sandals, while her sons sported similar outfits. August was seen in striped blue and white shorts and a light blue and white t-shirt, while Ernest wore a green T-shirt with purple shorts. Eugenie simply captioned her post with a blue heart emoji.

Although she didn’t disclose the location, it’s believed that the family is holidaying in Portugal before they join the royals at Balmoral next week. They often use the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club resort as their second home, where husband Jack Brooksbank has been working with the Discovery Land Company. Royal fans were thrilled with the intimate photo and took to the comments section of Eugenie’s post to shower her with praise. One user penned: “The photo is beautiful and shows a side of Princess Eugenie and her children that is very private and really cool, so the cool royal ones are simply a hit!!!” Another added: “What a wonderful photograph.” A third concluded: “Long live Princess Eugenie and her family.”

Although they don’t have titles like their mother, August and Ernest both have an important link to royal history thanks to their names – and are also carrying on a family trend that Sarah, Duchess of York started when her two daughters were born. Sarah has a well-documented fascination in the life of Queen Victoria and even served as a producer on the 2009 film, Young Victoria. Her interest runs so deep, in fact, that she named her two daughters after her.

Princess Beatrice was the name of the Queen’s youngest daughter with Prince Albert and all three of Princess Eugenie’s names (Eugenie Victoria Helena) follow the same trend. The princess carried on this trend when her son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, was born in 2021. The name August was one of the names of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert. He was christened as Franz Albert August Karl Emanuel. This happened again when the couple’s second son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank arrived. Ernest was the name of Queen Victoria’s brother-in-law and featured in many of her descendants names, including King George V.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
