Privacy Notice Prince William fears his brother Prince Harry’s inheritance might vanish quickly due to the “lavish” lifestyle he leads with Meghan Markle in the USA, a source has revealed. On his 40th birthday on September 15, the Duke of Sussex is set to inherit a hefty £7m from a trust fund established by their great-grandmother, the Queen Mother. Although Prince Harry is lined up for a greater share since Prince William benefits from the Duchy of Cornwall, rumours suggest that the future king isn’t too thrilled about it. A source claimed to Woman’s Day: “Never in a million years would he have predicted his brother would abandon his duties and swan off to America to try and build himself as this Hollywood celebrity, so he thinks Meghan is behind it.” They added: “He’s seen the lavish life they live so he has no doubt the money will be gone in a flash. The idea of Harry squandering his inheritance after turning up his nose at the family and his commitment to the crown is beyond the pale for William.”

Since deciding to step down as a senior Royal and relocating to California with Meghan in 2020, Harry has not shied away from airing his critiques of the Royal Family, whether on television or through his tell-all book, ‘Spare’. During their explosive sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, Harry admitted to being on “different paths” from William but expressed hopes for reconciliation. Meghan also made the shocking claim that she was left in tears by Kate Middleton before her wedding day. The former actress then accused an unidentified member of the Royal Family of racism. The Queen Mother, who was the great grandmother of Princes Harry and William and died in 2002, left a substantial sum to the Duke of Sussex in a trust.

Last month, Royal author Christopher Andersen told Fox News that the Queen Mother “couldn’t have anticipated all the trouble Harry caused the rest of the family”. In a chat with OK! last month, Jennie Bond, the BBC’s ex-Royal correspondent, suggested that the Queen Mother “loved” her great grandchildren, but would have been “mightily disappointed” to see “history repeating itself”. This was a nod to King Edward VIII, the Queen Mother’s brother-in-law, who gave up the throne in 1936 for Wallis Simpson, an American socialite. Jennie also suggested that the Queen Mother would be “angry” with Meghan over some of her comments, and “profoundly disappointed” that Harry had publicly criticised his family.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
