Privacy NoticeRoyal fans were thrilled when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared the news of their first pregnancy, eagerly awaiting the first peek at the latest addition to the Windsor family after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s little one made an entrance. But the arrival of Prince Archie broke away from Royal expectations, leaving onlookers a tad bemused. The Sussexes have always done things their way, and welcoming their baby boy was no exception. However, a pundit has since slammed the royal family for “deception” and perpetuating a “lie” about Archie’s birth. The mix-up started on May 6, 2019, when Buckingham Palace initially announced that the Duchess had gone into labour early that morning, only to later correct that Archie had actually arrived at 5.26 am.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton stuck to a more recent royal custom by stepping out for photos with each of her three children outside the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, reports the Daily Record. On a podcast, she revealed that she found the tradition “slightly terrifying” acknowledging the public interest but also sharing her appreciation for their well-wishes, despite feeling “mixed emotions” as a new mum. Choosing a different path, Harry and Meghan decided against the usual post-birth photo call. Instead, the world got its first glimpse of baby Archie at Windsor Castle, a couple of days post his birth. Royal expert Robert Lacey has expressed his bewilderment in the Daily Mail about the mystery that shrouded Archie’s birth, calling it “deception”.

The Royal historian and writer of ‘Charles III : New King. New Court. The Inside Story’ revealed: “There was the deception over the announcement of Archie’s birth, which unlike every other royal birth of modern times took place in total secrecy. Buckingham Palace announced at 2 pm on May 6, 2019, that Meghan had gone into labour that morning – when in fact, she had safely given birth to baby Archie eight hours earlier, at 5.26 am.” Robert also noted the break from tradition when Harry and Meghan chose not to disclose the identities of Archie’s godparents. In their revealing six-part Netflix documentary series, Meghan opened up about her choice to have a private birth at Portland Hospital, saying: “There was already the pressure of the picture on the steps. … But I had been really worried going into that labour, because I’m older, I didn’t know if I’d have to have a c-section, and I had a very longstanding relationship with my doctor, and that’s who I trusted with my pregnancy.” During an intimate moment in the series, Harry, alongside Meghan, discussed the “abuse” they faced for deviating from Royal traditions, expressing: “The amount of abuse that we got, especially you, but both of us, for not wanting to serve our child up on a silver platter, was incredible.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
