Privacy NoticeThe Royal brothers, Prince William and Prince Harry, temporarily put their differences aside this week as they attended their uncle’s funeral together. Prince Harry made a secret trip back to the UK for the service of Lord Robert Fellowes on Wednesday 28 August. The 82 year old was married to the late Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane, making him an uncle to both Prince William and Harry. He sadly passed away at the end of July, reports the Mirror. It had previously been reported that a meeting between the two brothers at the funeral would be “awkward.” Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond spoke exclusively to OK! earlier this month and stressed Harry attending the event would cause problems. “I imagine Harry will want to be at his uncle’s funeral…. but his presence would cause all sorts of awkwardness if William attends too,” she said. “It would be nice to think, though, that two grown-up men could at least be in the same space…. as they were at the coronation, albeit briefly…. without ruining an occasion of great sadness and solemnity.”

They arrived very discreetly.” Lord Robert Fellowes died on Monday 29 July at the age of 82. He was one of Queen Elizabeth II’s most important advisers during the years that she faced the divorces of three of her children (Charles, Anne and Andrew) as well as Diana, Princess of Wales’s death in 1997. Lord Fellowes’s father was Sir William “Billy” Fellowes, the land agent at Sandringham from 1936 to 1964, and a shooting companion of the Queen’s father, King George VI. The Queen visited Lord Fellowes when he was born in 1942, and later famously said of the encounter: “Robert is the only one of my private secretaries I have held in my arms”. In July 1999, he was created a life peer in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, giving him the title of Baron Fellowes of Shotesham in the County of Norfolk. Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, paid tribute to Robert following the announcement of his passing. “My absolutely exceptional brother-in-law, Robert, is no longer with us. A total gentleman – in all the best meanings of that word – he was a man of humour, wisdom and utter integrity. I’m deeply proud to have been his brother-in-law.” Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
