Privacy NoticeThe Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, is said to be missing support of one key royal amid her cancer recovery, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond. Jennie, who has spent years with the royals, has said that she thinks the late Princess Diana would have befriended Catherine from the start. “I find it almost impossible to imagine the Princess I knew as a 63 year old woman,” she said. “I think she would have befriended Catherine from the start and would have given her the guidance about royal life that she herself felt had been so lacking.” Kate, bravely shared her cancer diagnosis and ongoing chemotherapy treatment earlier this year. When sharing the news with the public via a video posted online, Kate asked for understanding and privacy during her treatment. She also openly expressed that the diagnosis was a massive shock, and she and William “have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family”. Jennie continued to explain how Diana – who died in a Paris car crash 27 years ago, on 31 August – was full of love and care and would have certainly been there for Kate too.

Diana would have befriended Kate according to Jennie Bond

Jennie says Diana loved children and would have been very caring to Kate

She said: “Diana loved children and, as she told me, she had a seemingly endless well of TLC (tender loving care) to give to anyone who needed it. And I think she would have relished doting on her grandchildren – perhaps especially on Charlotte as she herself had always wanted a daughter. I can imagine her racing around the garden with the children, playing hide and seek or firing water pistols and giggling in the girlish way I remember so well.” “And I think she would absolutely have come into her own in recent months with Catherine’s surgery and cancer diagnosis. Diana was a complete star when it came to helping people who were facing illness. She made private visits to the sick and dying which she found incredibly fulfilling. And I’m sure she would have been an enormous comfort both to Catherine and to William and the children.”

It is often claimed by those who knew Diana best that if she was still alive today, she would be splitting her time between the UK and the US – while also using her immense public profile to support her charities and raise awareness. Jennie said: “Who knows what cards life would have dealt her had she lived into old age? I can only hazard a guess that she would have retained her wonderful sense of humour and her deep love for her boys.” Kate recently made a rare public appearance as she joined Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla at Crathie Church in Scotland. The 42 year old was spotted on Sunday (25 August) in the passenger seat of a car driven by her husband, with their eldest son, Prince George, also seen in the back seat. Crathie Kirk has been a favourite place of worship for the Royal Family during their stays at Balmoral for over a hundred years. Crathie Kirk was the location of a private service for the royals in September 2022 following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and they also attended a Sunday service there in 1997 after the tragic death of Princess Diana.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
