Privacy Notice The already palpable tension between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William was evident at their uncle’s wake on Thursday. The Duke of Sussex made the journey from the United States to the UK earlier this week to honour Lord Robert Fellowes, who was married to their late mother Diana, Princess of Wales’ sister. Despite both princes being present at the memorial service held in Snettisham, Norfolk, reportedly not a word passed between them, even though they were in close proximity. A mourner told The Sun, “They were only five yards from each other.” There was a moment when the Royal siblings were “virtually back to back” during the wake, but they ultimately left the event individually, with no apparent interaction, reports the Express. An attendee commented on their placement within the venue, noting: “They were sat two or three rows back from the front, not at the back, but they were on opposite sides of the aisle.”

Reverend Tansey, who hosted the funeral reception for Lord Robert Fellowes, has revealed he didn’t catch sight of Princes William and Harry chatting to one another. Speaking to The Sun, the Reverend shared: “It was only as I was greeting the congregation on the way out that Prince William was shaking my hand, and then very quickly after Prince Harry did too.” He noted the apparent absence of interaction between the Royal siblings during the post-service gathering: “I don’t recollect them speaking to each other but there were a lot of family members and friends speaking to them.” As reported by The Sun, following the service, both Prince Harry and Prince William joined the wake held in a marquee in the garden of Lady Jane Fellowes’ house, adjacent to the church, socialising with relatives and pals including Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer.

The tribute occurred 31 days subsequent to the passing of 82 year old Lord Robert Fellowes, who also fulfilled the role of Private Secretary to the late Queen. An insider revealed that the service was “well attended” with many family members and friends eager to catch up with Harry and William. After the service, Harry was seen leaving in a black car. The source added: “When we left the reception they were both still there, but as we were on a walk we saw Harry driven off in a black Range Rover.” This marked their first public appearance together since King Charles’s Coronation in May 2023. Despite living in America with his wife and two children, and initial concerns over security, Harry made a “discreetly” return to the UK to attend the service alongside William. Reverend Tansey spoke highly of the service, saying: “It was a lovely service and there were a lot of people who wanted to be there for someone who was really well-respected in the village.”
