Privacy Notice In her position as the most senior royal woman in the UK, there are very few people Queen Camilla can trust and turn to when times get tough. Even though she has her two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes to lean on, she also has a trusted confidante in her ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles. The pair were pictured reuniting at the Audley Public House in London on Thursday evening to celebrate the launch of their son’s new book, Cooking & The Crown. Despite their divorce in 1995, the former couple have remained the best of friends and are clearly remain a source of support for one another.

Following the couple’s reunion, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively spoke to OK! about the ties between the Queen and her former husband. “I think it’s rather lovely that the whole family seem happy to be together, in spite of the divorce,” Jennie says. “It shows that in spite of what many would view as a rather unconventional marriage – in which both Andrew and Camilla strayed – deep down they have always been and remain the best of friends.” Referring to their shared interests and devotion to their family, Jennie adds: “And they also clearly have the interests of their children and grandchildren at heart. The divorce, and all that went on before it, are now a long time ago and I don’t believe there was any real bitterness even at the time.”

Jennie continues: “By all accounts Andrew is the most genial man who is excellent company and, it seems, there are no grudges. He is one of that very close circle of friends whom the royals trust. “It says a lot about Camilla’s down to earth, practical and kind nature that she has kept Andrew as one of her best friends, in spite of her extraordinary change in status. It’s good to see that not every broken marriage has to end in rancour.” The former couple remain so close, in fact, that a source told the Daily Mail: “They are joined at the hip. He arranges so much for her. They have lunch together the whole time. He’s right in there. He was always, and still is, Camilla’s co-conspirator.”

Andrew – who is currently dating BBC TV presenter Anne Robinson – married the-then Camilla Shand at The Guards Chapel in London on July 4, 1973. Following their divorce, Andrew married Rosemary Dickinson in 1996, but she sadly passed away in 2010 after a long battle with cancer. The pair showcased their close bond at their son, Tom’s, event, which was held to mark the release of his new book Cooking and The Crown: Royal Recipes From Queen Victoria To King Charles III. The food critic signed copies of his book which contains royal recipes such as Queen Camilla’s porridge, George V’s curry and the Bombe Glacée Princess Elizabeth for pudding.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
