Privacy NoticePrince Harry is reportedly planning a big birthday bash with his “closest mates”, but Meghan Markle won’t be joining, according to claims. As the royal rebel gears up to celebrate his landmark 40th birthday, it’s been reported that Harry is planning a lads’ holiday to “enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates”. The claims, reported by The Sun on Wednesday also revealed that his birthday getaway will follow a family birthday celebration at his Montecito mansion in California – where Meghan will stay behind with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves through the royal world in 2020 when they stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to the United States.

Despite Harry recently stating that his two children are the “best gifts” he ever received, it’s claimed that he has been growing increasingly discontent with his new life away from the UK. A source close to the Sussexes told the publication: “Harry is feeling more and more isolated in California, which is why he has been reconnecting with old friends back home. The Colombia trip also really highlighted how Meghan is comfortable stepping into the spotlight, while Harry cuts a very sulky, unhappy figure in the background. “He wants to carve out a way back into royal life back in the UK and is seeking counsel from old friends and associates.” OK! has contacted Harry’s representatives for comment. There’s been a whirlwind of rumours that Harry is seeking advice on how to make a comeback to the UK and reconnect with the Royal Family. However, claims that friends believe Harry has lost his way have been disputed by some insiders, reports the Mirror. Earlier reports suggested that Harry has sought guidance from former aides in the UK and has grown tired of the Hollywood representatives he and Meghan hired since embarking on their new life in the US. Meghan was the centre of attention during the couple’s public visits to Nigeria in May and then Colombia in August.

The Mirror previously reported that Meghan feels “not wanted” in the UK and dreads being “thrown back into an anxiety-fuelled visit to England”. Harry attended the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, alone, after his wife reportedly had a “change of heart” about joining him with their children, Archie and Lilibet, due to security concerns. Harry reportedly pleaded with his wife, saying: “I don’t want to do this alone.” The Duke reportedly isn’t keen on “keep making solo trips to the UK”, with an insider explaining: “He would prefer it if the entire family made regular visits to see his family and build bridges, but there is so much going on behind the scenes that it just isn’t possible at the moment.” Since stepping back from royal duties four years ago, the Duke of Sussex has been candid about his life within the monarchy. Harry has made several startling revelations in interviews and his tell-all memoir, Spare.

He expressed in the book that he could “never cross that chasm” to regain closeness with his relatives. Harry also alleged a lack of affection during his upbringing, claiming he was often denied hugs and kisses. Harry recounted how his brother, Prince William, would request personal space and described the older royals as having an almost “maintained a nearly zero-tolerance prohibition on all physical contact”, which typically excluded hugs, kisses, or pats. However, on special occasions, there might be “a light touching of cheeks.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
