Privacy NoticePrince George is taking to the skies just like his Royal ancestors. The young prince was seen having a blast during his first flying lesson at White Waltham Airfield, with his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, watching on with pride. The family arrived in style, with a three-car convoy at the Berkshire airfield, which is conveniently located just a short drive from their Windsor residence. This is the same airfield where George’s great-grandfather, Prince Philip, honed his own flying skills back in the 1950s. Witnesses at the scene shared with The Sun that Prince George, at the tender age of 11, took to the air with an instructor and absolutely “loved” every minute of it. An onlooker commented to the publication about George’s adventurous new pastime: “George is only 11 years old but it is the right time to start. The Royal Family has a proud tradition of flying and it looks like George is next in line. His parents watched George take flight from the safety of the ground but he flew with an instructor and loved it.” The Wales family also enjoyed some downtime at the airfield’s clubhouse, which is part of the West London Aero Club. Another eyewitness recounted: “There were probably 30 or 40 people in the clubhouse. Catherine and William watched George take off. But they were relaxed about it. All three of them had been pretty chilled in the clubhouse.”

This exciting development follows Prince William’s recent revelation that he’s keen to get back into flying himself. Prince William got nostalgic about his time as an air ambulance pilot during a visit to the Wales Air Ambulance headquarters. He admitted, “I can’t stop talking about helicopters and medical kits and all sorts. I’m sorry I take ages waffling about it. I miss it all. I’m quite keen to stay a bit longer.” The Prince also hinted at a possible return, saying, “I’m thinking I might come back for a weekend at some point. I saw the Cardiff team a while ago and said to them I’ll come back and join them.”

While there has been huge amounts of change for younger royals like Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis since the death of Queen Elizabeth II and accession of King Charles, there will be a number of even more significant alterations to come, particularly for 11-year-old George. Looking ahead to when Prince William is on the throne, Prince George looks set to become the 28th Prince of Wales. While he will immediately become The Duke of Cornwall, the new King will have to grant George the Prince of Wales title.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
