Privacy NoticePrince Harry has reportedly made up his mind about the future of his inheritance from his great-grandmother. The Queen Mother had stashed away a hefty £19 million in a trust fund for the royals before she passed away in 2002, with a slice of that fortune intended for Prince Harry and another portion reserved for his elder sibling, Prince William. The brothers were each set to receive their share upon turning 40, and with Harry celebrating this milestone on Sunday (September 15) he’s believed to have pocketed the larger cut, estimated at somewhere between £7million and £8m. This is down to the fact that William, as the future King, will reap the rewards of the Duchy of Cornwall, a vast private estate that funds the public, charitable, and personal endeavours of the monarch’s heir. A source close to Woman’s Day revealed that Harry plans to tuck away the cash from his great-grandmother for later days, reports the Express.

The insider shared: “He wants to put the inheritance away for their future, especially for Archie [five] and Lili [three].” Harry, who shares children Archie and Lilibet with his wife Meghan Markle, has previously expressed that being a father to them is the greatest joy of his life. In an interview with People magazine, he gushed: “[I] love being their dad.” A former royal staffer disclosed that the Queen Mother’s money was considered a “tax-efficient” method for her to leave a legacy for her descendants. They mentioned: “There was a trust fund set up at the time.”

“It was a way in which the Queen Mother could set aside money for when her great-grandchildren were older and a way of passing a slice of her estate down in a tax-efficient way. “It was a way in which some of her estate could be ring-fenced for them.” Over the weekend, as Prince Harry celebrated his 40th birthday, King Charles sent him a heartfelt message via social media. The official account for the King and Queen Consort shared: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!” This thoughtful post was paired with a cheerful photograph, capturing an ever-smiling Prince Harry donned in a light grey suit jacket and crisp white shirt, adorned with his iconic bracelets and caught in a candid moment, chuckling off-camera.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
