Privacy NoticePrince Harry and Meghan Markle’s neighbours are reportedly “fed up” with the high-profile couple and are hoping they’ll move on. The Duke of Sussex, who recently celebrated his milestone 40th birthday, made headlines when he and his wife decided to step back from their Royal duties in January 2020. Following the move, the couple relocated to California where they now live with their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They purchased their £12 million home in 2020 and since then, their Montecito neighbours have begun to voice their opinions about living next to one of the world’s most talked-about couples.

One anonymous neighbour didn’t hold back when speaking to The News, stating they “cannot wait for her [Meghan Markle] to go,” reports the Express. Another neighbour, Frank, a navy veteran who resides next door to the couple, had a less harsh critique but claimed he was “turned away” from their property. According to reports, the 88-year-old was asked to leave after he approached their gate with some local history films, hoping to help the Sussexes settle into their new surroundings. He alleged that “they’re not interested”. Frank, who had brought the films on a CD, described how he was dismissed by the couple’s security team in his memoir, ‘Get Off Your Street’.

Frank expressed his surprise at the couple’s decision to move to the Riven Rock Estate, where residents are “typically” older. He also told the Montecito Journal: “We don’t see them very much around here.” Earlier this month, another local resident spoke to The Telegraph about the Sussexes’ low profile in the neighbourhood. He claimed that Prince Harry is often seen with his security detail, whether he’s cycling, strolling on the beach, or popping out for a bite. Meghan, is also allegedly elusive, though has reportedly been spotted enjoying lunch with her pals or browsing a market. Richard expressed that the community is eagerly “waiting for them” and “gnashing at the bit”.

While the Duke of Sussex may now call California his home, he has visited the UK on several occasions since moving to the US. Last month he made a secret trip back to the UK for the funeral service of Lord Robert Fellowes on Wednesday, 28 August. The 82-year-old was married to the late Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane, making him an uncle to both Prince William and Prince Harry.
