Privacy Notice It has been claimed that King Charles is no longer excluding Prince Andrew from Royal life, with suggestions that Prince William was asked to drive him to church in Scotland last Sunday. This move is being interpreted as a significant step towards Prince Andrew’s public return, especially as he shared the trip with the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate – a scene observed by all. That Andrew was visibly part of the family outing to Balmoral Church may signal a potential endorsement from William and Kate, significantly helping his case in the public eye. An inside source disclosed to the Mirror: “It’s more than he (Andrew) could have wished for.”

Further talks between King Charles and Prince Andrew have led to an understanding; while Andrew will remain out of active Royal duties, he will be integrated back into family activities. A Royal insider noted: “The King feels he has an awful lot on his in-tray and this is one issue he wants to draw a line under.” This development stands out considering Prince Andrew’s recent past, where after settling a sex abuse case for £12 million without any admission of wrongdoingvehemently denying the allegationsthe late Queen stripped him of his military titles and charity patronages. The Royal family’s newfound unity marks a stark contrast and a remarkable reversal of fortune for Prince Andrew. In November 2019, the BBC’s Newsnight aired Prince Andrew and the Epstein Scandal, which scrutinised the Prince’s relationship with Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed he sexually assaulted her. The programme also saw broadcaster Emily Maitlis question him about his friendship with the late billionaire and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, reports the Express.

An insider revealed to the Mirror that while Prince William may have attended private events with his uncle, such as Christmas at Sandringham, he had no wish to be seen with the Duke in public. Another source added: “It appears he may have had his wings clipped somewhat.” Rachael Maskell, MP for York Central, who introduced a bill in parliament to strip the Royal of his Duke of York title, stated that “any perceived public rehabilitation” for Prince Andrew would be “unpalatable”. The public has welcomed the slimming down of the monarchy, both in terms of royals and the vast numbers of staff working for them. As Prince of Wales, King Charles III expressed his desire for a “slimmed-down” monarchy, which would see fewer working members of the Royal Family and a less costly institution.
