More infoJoin us on WhatsApp During Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Denise Nolan’s heartfelt tribute to her late sister Linda was interrupted by technical issues. Denise, who lived with Linda, joined hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley via video link to honour her sister, but the connection was unfortunately lost towards the end. Denise began her tribute by sharing that she was with Linda in the ambulance on the Saturday night before her tragic passing on Wednesday 15 January. Over the festive period, Linda had contracted double pneumonia. The beloved star had been bravely battling various forms of cancer for nearly two decades, having first been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

“She was incredible”, Denise began. “I went in the ambulance with her on Saturday night and she was laughing and joking. I said ‘I’ll see you on Tuesday’, but that’s when it all went downhill so I never really spoke to her again, which was hard.” Denise then revealed that it wasn’t cancer that caused Linda’s death, but the pneumonia that her weakened immune system couldn’t fight off. “She could have lived another few years but she got pneumonia, and her immune system was so bad she couldn’t handle it.” Denise also spoke about Linda’s unwavering positivity over the years and shared some cherished memories from their time living together, reports the Mirror.

However, the heartfelt conversation was cut short unexpectedly. Richard wrapped up by saying: “Denise, it’s been a pleasure talking about her with you and I know it must be very difficult for you. But it’s lovely to hear you talking about her in the way that you have.” Denise appeared to struggle with her ear piece, stating: “Not hearing anything,” before Susanna Reid had to announce: “I’m so sorry, we just lost the connection to you there Denise.” Susanna praised both Denise and Linda as “remarkable women” before Lorraine Kelly joined them to pay her respects. Previously, Denise had shared details of Linda’s final days, describing her “beautiful, brave, hard-working and talented sister”. “She’d been laughing and joking, although the medical team had told her she had to stay quiet to let her treatment do its job. Everyone was being quietly optimistic as she’d seemed so cheerful. Then at 3.30am on Tuesday, we got the dreaded call, ‘Get to the hospital asap’,” she revealed. Just two days prior to her hospitalisation, Linda had written in her weekly Mirror column that she was feeling better after a Christmas “bout of flu”. “I feel so grateful to be feeling well again. It feels like a whole new world out there. There’s nothing like the sensation of starting to feel better after an illness. I wake up every morning and I think, ‘This is another day to celebrate’,” she wrote.
