Privacy NoticePrince Harry has been opening up about his beloved mum, Princess Diana, during a series of high-profile solo engagements in the Big Apple. Making an appearance at the Concordia Summit in New York, without wife Meghan by his side, Harry touched on the legacy of his mother through the Diana Award during a heartfelt discussion with the charity’s CEO Dr Tessy Ojo. The organisation, the only official charity established to commemorate Diana, recognises young trailblazers set on bettering the globe since its inception 25 years ago. Engaging in heart-to-heart talks alongside Dr Ojo were two previous recipients of the Diana Award, Christina Williams and Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, focusing on the acute mental health battles faced by young individuals today.

The flame-haired Duke made his entrance onto the Concordia Annual Summit stage for a dedicated Diana Award event, microphone in hand and a grin on his face. Dr Ojo commented: “The Diana award is a living legacy to Diana, Princess of Wales, and usually when I talk about this, I have to try and tell you what who we are, and maybe tell you who Princess Diana is. But today I don’t have to do that, because I’m thrilled to be joined today by her son, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.” She added: “I’m very grateful to have the Duke of Sussex with us. He is a passionate advocate for mental health. He actually said to me as we came in that actually we should no longer talk about mental health but we should talk about mental fitness. His dedication to this cause strengthens our mission.”, reports the Mirror.

Wearing a golden Diana Award badge on his lapel, Prince Harry began an animated conversation with two of the Diana Legacy Award recipients, asking questions such as, “What worries you the most about the world today? ” and “what are the biggest barriers to young people reaching their full potential? ” He didn’t shy away from mental health either, asking how it has touched their lives and those around them. Reflecting on the legacy his mother left behind, Prince Harry believed she’d beam with pride over the award and its admirable winners, particularly praising their insight into today’s youth challenges. “I know that my mum would be incredibly proud of you guys, not just you, but all of the winners, and, Tessy you’ve been in this for a very long time so thank you for that as well. But the way that you do it, your activism, your compassion, those two things are so true to how my mum led her life and what she believed in. And the way that you do it is incredible. So, thank you.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
