Privacy NoticePrince Harry and Meghan Markle may be living the California dream now, but once upon a time, they were UK-based at Frogmore Cottage, carrying out their Royal duties. During this chapter of their lives, when their firstborn, Prince Archie, came into the world, they were neighbours with other Royal Family members, including the Prince and Princess of Wales. Snapshots from this era reveal a seldom seen public interaction between Archie and his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, while they were still on UK soil. Back in July 2019, when Archie was only two months old, his dad, Prince Harry, took part in a polo match in Wokingham, Berkshire, with his young family cheering him on.

While it’s probable that the Wales and Sussex kids had hung out before this public outing, it was the first time they were all casually snapped together, reports The Express. Photos from the event show sweet interactions between the cousins, with Louis showing off his usual cheeky side as he sprinted towards Meghan, who was cradling baby Archie. Louis had another playful moment when he stuck his tongue out and waved at the Duchess. Charlotte and George were spotted playing the role of protective older cousins, keeping a close eye on Archie, while Kate Middleton happily looked on at the sweet interactions. New dad Harry looked overjoyed with his family’s support, flashing a wide grin at Meghan post-match. While it’s known that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ family had some time with Archie, reportedly first meeting him in a private gathering, it remains unclear how much time they have spent with the Sussex’s youngest, Princess Lilibet.

However, it was a fleeting visit that coincided with the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations, resulting in the monarch and other members of the Royal Family missing Lilibet’s birthday. Despite eagerly anticipating a visit on Lilibet’s first birthday, the late Queen was reportedly left waiting. The Queen’s former footman, Paul Burrell revealed to The Mirror: “Even on Lilibet’s first birthday the Queen didn’t see her. “She saw her the day before. But on her birthday, the Queen had a birthday cake made with one candle in it. And they never turned up. That candle was never lit.” The Sussex family marked Lilibet’s birthday with a quaint backyard picnic at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. “The next day she asked if maybe they’d like to come up for tea again and was told they’ve gone,” Paul recalls. “‘What do you mean they’ve gone?’ she said. They’ve gone back to America. ‘Oh no, they never said goodbye’.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
