The heartfelt moment was captured and shared on social media, showing Kate with a beaming smile as she hugged 16 year old Liz, who has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Liz, who has been work to tick off photography goals from her bucket list, received an exclusive invitation from Kate and William to photograph an investiture ceremony at Windsor.

This marks the first photo of Kate, 42, since she shared a poignant family video where she revealed the completion of her preventative chemotherapy treatment, now focusing on remaining “cancer free”. Body language specialist Judi James suggests that Kate’s gesture conveyed a profound sense of empathy during her encounter with the aspiring photographer today. “There seems to be an extra note of empathy about Kate’s body language here as she leans her shoulders and upper torso in for a hug that looks as though it could be beneficial for both her and Liz. A heartfelt post on X, previously known as Twitter, shared: “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us.” In a touching tribute, Kate and William expressed their gratitude to the 16 year old in another caption accompanying the images she captured of the event, saying: “Congratulations to everyone who received honours at Windsor today! It was a pleasure to have @lizhatton_photography helping us to capture these special moments.” Liz, hailing from Harrogate, was diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumours in January and tumours were found on her ovaries, her omentum tissue, and liver. Tragically, Liz has been informed that her life expectancy could range from six months to three years, depending on how well she responds to chemotherapy.
