Privacy NoticePrince Andrew is reportedly set to keep his residence at Royal Lodge, in what’s being seen as a significant win for the disgraced royal. The Duke of York has called the mansion home for two decades, despite facing potential eviction by his brother, King Charles. King Charles is rumoured to be eager for Andrew to downsize to a less costly residence, with Frogmore Cottage suggested as a possible alternative. However, the Duke has remained steadfast in his determination to stay put at the Windsor Estate property, where his former wife Sarah Ferguson also resides. In 2004, Andrew signed a 75-year lease on Royal Lodge and pledged to cover its maintenance costs.

Doubts have been raised about his ability to finance the property, especially as his security will be withdrawn at the end of this month on Charles’ orders, leaving Andrew to arrange his own. However, a Royal expert has indicated that Charles lacks the means to evict Andrew, suggesting that the Duke will remain at Royal Lodge for the time being. Richard Palmer, posting on social media site X, stated that Charles “wants Andrew to pay his own property maintenance and security costs now he’s no longer a working royal.” Palmer further noted that the monarch has “no power to evict Andrew and, as far as I’m aware, the Crown Estate hasn’t set any new deadlines”. Andrew was notably stripped of his Royal titles in 2022 after settling a sexual assault claim out of court, reports the Scottish Daily Express. His friendship with disgraced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continues to haunt him, and he has also faced allegations of sexual crimes, which he strongly denies. The Royal drama has reportedly strained family ties, with Charles and his siblings Anne and Edward feeling “disappointed” in the King’s management of the situation, a source claims. Meanwhile, Andrew’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie are said to be distressed over their dad’s lack of support, but Prince William is believed to have been pivotal in the decision to remove Andrew’s titles, fully supporting his father. Andrew must keep up with the upkeep of his residence to avoid breaching the Crown Estate’s lease conditions. However, for the moment, he appears to be comfortably ensconced in his £30 million home. Recently, Andrew’s daughter, Princess Beatrice, announced her second pregnancy, accompanied by an heartfelt message by her mother. Despite Sarah and Adrew’s amicable relationship, it notably did not mention the soon-to-be grandfather.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
