Privacy NoticeParents are forking out an extra £645 on average during half-term, with childcare and entertainment costs skyrocketing. The October break is particularly tough on wallets, coming hot on the heels of a pricey summer. Choosing between a UK staycation or a holiday abroad can be a real head-scratcher for those planning a half-term getaway. Despite its popularity among British families, with 2.1 million visitors in 2022/23, Center Parcs might not be the most economical option. Eurochange’s travel money gurus have crunched the numbers and found that European Center Parcs locations can be a steal compared to their UK counterparts during half-term. Laura Evans-Fisk, eurochange’s digital and engagement chief, advises: “Half-term can be a very expensive time for families, and it can be tricky to work out your best options when it comes to booking a break. With soaring costs during school holidays for hotels and resorts in the UK, it can often be much cheaper to go abroad.” She adds, “You can actually get a lot more for your money due to the exchange rate, even factoring in flight costs. People often think Center Parcs resorts are cheaper in the UK, however our research shows it is actually far more cost effective to take the whole family to a park abroad.” According to eurochange, a 4-night stay at Center Parcs, Park Nordseeküste in Germany during the October half term will set a family of four (2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and above) back by €569 (£442.66). In contrast, a similar 4-night stay at Center Parcs’ Sherwood Forest resort over the same period would cost a staggering £1,399 for a family of the same size, reports Nottinghamshire Live.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
