Privacy NoticePop icon Toyah Willcox has been shimmering her way across the ballroom in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and has been cheered on by her famous husband. Her rockstar husband, Robert Fripp has been at the forefront of support for his wife during her Strictly journey. So much so, that it got rather heated on Saturday night (5 October) when the musician booed at Craig Revel Horwood after the judge said Toyah’s performance, with pro partner Neil Jones, was “all a bit stuck in the mud, ploddy and floppy.” During Movie Week, Robert stood up from his chair and diverted his outrage to Craig, to which he hit back and told Robert to sit back down.

But away from Strictly, the couple have a very special love story, having been married for 38 years. Robert, who has an impressive career spanning over half a century, said ‘I do’ to Toyah in 1986, and they’ve been acing the marriage game ever since. Revealing the secret to their lasting union. Toyah shared: “I think we’re both very independent. And because of our independent careers, we can have breathing away from each other. I would say to any couple trust and allow that in your relationships. Having these breathing space spaces, I think are really, really valuable.” She continued: “We don’t have children, we never even considered having children. Hats off to those people who do because that commitment is extraordinary. I think with us we’ve managed to remain unique and independent as well as being a couple. We both travel the world independently of each other working, and we come back together because we want to – there’s always a freshness in our marriage,” reports the Mirror.

My wife is constantly mischievous, and one of her favourite little things is to make me jump.” Toyah cheekily admitted: “It does make me aware I might give them a heart attack!” Just this year, the duo started filming their own renditions of bangers from Slipknot to Foo Fighters weekly and dished out their love life tips. Sharing a glimpse inside their marriage and what its like touring together, Toyak said “it’s exactly the same as being married for 38 years” and they both come from “very different genres.” The couple are no strangers to the spotlight with Robert, now 78, acclaimed not only as a dextrous guitarist and producer but also as the pioneering founder of the revolutionary prog-rock ensemble, King Crimson. Hailing from London circa 1968, this seminal band dropped eight top ten bangers on the UK charts, with timeless classics like “In the Court of the Crimson King” and “Red, and despite disbanding in 1974, it later reformed on several occasions.
