Privacy NoticeMidsomer Murders is returning to ITV after celebrating 25 years on air. Midsomer Murders episode The Blacktrees Prophecy follows a man named Warren Kaine who lives deep in Blacktrees Forest in a bombproof shelter. His extreme paranoia has drawn other survivalists to the village, and now a doomsday prepper group meets weekly. When Warren is found murdered, Barnaby unravels a dark conspiracy to reveal how far people will go to escape the end of the world. Who stars in The Blacktrees Prophecy? DCI John Barnaby – Neil Dudgeon The seasoned detective moved from Brighton to Causton CID, stepping into the shoes of his cousin, Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby (played by John Nettles), upon his retirement. Neil Dudgeon, 63, is no stranger to the spotlight, with notable roles in Roman’s Empire and Life of Riley under his belt. Off-screen, he’s hitched to BBC Radio producer Mary Peate, and they’re proud parents to two kids, reports the Express. Neil recently shared a snippet from Geneva on the show’s official Facebook page, saying with his co-stars: “It’s wonderful for all of us to be here in lovely Geneva,” as they geared up for the Film Festival. This detective sergeant made his first appearance in season 19 and had previously crossed paths with Dr Kam Karimore (Manjinder Virk). At 39, Nick Hendrix has already impressed audiences with his performances in The Crown and Marcella. He’s married to Jessica Ellerby, who also appeared alongside him in an episode of Midsomer Murders. Chatting with whattowatch.com, Nick shared a glimpse into their on-set experience: “It was fun. It was nice to have her on set, and to have to be sort of anti-each other, playing awkwardness with each other rather than affection, which is obviously the opposite – we have affection for each other naturally.” Sarah Barnaby – Fiona Dolman
