With the temperamental Great British weather scuppering many of our plans for days out with unexpected cold snaps and gallons of rain, there’s no better time than now to snuggle under a blanket and binge watch our favourite shows – especially when Disney+ is offering two free months to anyone that signs up for an annual subscription to their streaming service. Many of us will already be familiar with the traditional subscription model of streaming services, in which subscribers have access to a wealth of award winning shows for a simple monthly fee, but by swapping to an annual plan savvy telly watchers can actually bag themselves a discounted rate. Normally, Disney+ comes with two monthly subscription packages, the standard plan at £7.99 , which allows viewers to stream on two decides at 1080p Full HD, and the Premium plan at £10.99 , which offer 4K UHD and HDR streaming along with simultaneous streaming on four devices.

Although not too imposing in isolation, over the course of the year the cost can soon mount up, with each package setting shoppers back £95.88 and £131.88, respectively. Keen to help viewers save money, Disney introduced the option to pay for the service annually, with two months of the service offered for free to any subscriber that was willing to pay for the whole year upfront at a discounted rate of: £79.90 for standard or £109.90 for premium. This means that subscribers would save £15.98 on the standard plan and £21.98 on the premium plan. Whichever plan shoppers choose, Disney+ allows subscribers to download shows and films to watch offline, perfect for any long car journeys when you need to entertain the kids!

Subscribers may also want to note that Disney+ has confirmed it will soon be cracking down on members sharing their Disney+ accounts with friends and family in different households, so an annual subscription is a great way to keep costs down while having your own account. An exact date for the change is yet to be announced, but Disney has said it will be implemented in a few countries this June, with a full rollout expected in September. So what exactly does a Disney+ subscription include? Annual subscription members will have access to a huge back catalogue of films and programmes from across the Disney portfolio, which also includes Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and National Geographic to name but a few.
Renegade Nell is currently streaming on Disney+
Disney+ is also the UK home of blockbuster shows like The Bear and Welcome to Wrexham – both of which are back for a third season later this year – plus gripping samurai saga Shōgun, which comes to its epic conclusion on April 23. Period drama fans may also want to tune into the action packed Renegade Nell which is now streaming too, and follows the exploits of a quick-witted and courageous young woman framed for murder as she unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th-century England! Later this year, Disney+ will also become the new home of Doctor Who, with the brand new series and a number of spin-offs airing on the service in line with the BBC transmission dates.
