Privacy Notice Last year’s Britain’s Got Talent live shows got off to a rather awkward start when Ant McPartlin suffered a “heavy fall” live on-air. The TV presenter took a tumble following the show’s opening dance number – which was performed by 2009 winners, London-based dance group Diversity, fronted by Dancing On Ice judge, Ashley Banjo. As the dance was coming to an end Ant and his co-host Declan Donnelly made their way centre stage to introduce the first act, when Ant slipped into the air, landing on his back before dancer Ashley helped him to his feet. And with the live shows making their return this week, the presenting duo have revealed that gift that Dec gave his pal in order to avoid the same fate as last year.

Ant McPartlin reveals Britain’s Got Talent judge who refused to buy him a baby gift after son Wilder’s birth
In a video posted to Ant and Dec’s Instagram page, Dec began: “Let’s surprise Ant outside the toilet. I’ve got a little present for him.” After Ant left the bathroom, Dec presenting him with the gift – although Ant was quick to admit that he hadn’t got one in return. As Ant opened the gift, Dec quipped that he’d got him something “that might come in handy.” A confused Ant then asked: “What are these?” while holding up some shoe grips. Dec explained: “These are grips you put on the end of your shoes, because remember last year on the first show, remember when you fell over?”, to which Ant complained: “Oh thanks very much, I thought everybody had forgotten about that. It’s been a year.”

Ant’s appearance on the BGT live shows is the first time he has returned to work following the birth of his son Wilder two weeks ago. The presenter became a dad for the first time last week after welcoming his baby son into the world with wife Anne-Marie. Announcing his baby joy on Instagram, Ant wrote: “Welcome to the family. Wilder Patrick Mcpartlin. Born, 14/05/24 at 8.54am. Baby is beautiful, Mummy’s a legend, Sisters are over the moon. Dad’s a mess!” Ahead of his return to the limelight, celebrity PR expert Mayah Riaz shared that Ant was likely having mixed emotions about returning to work. Speaking to The Mirror, Mayah said: “Ant’s decision to take a break from Saturday Night Takeaway and prioritise fatherhood is a smart move. “Becoming a father is a life-changing experience, and it is natural for him to want to spend quality time with his son and adjust to his new role as a parent. Ant’s return to work after becoming a dad will likely be filled with mixed emotions. On one hand, he may feel a sense of excitement and fulfilment as he resumes his career and reconnects onscreen with his co-host Dec.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
