Privacy Notice Britain’s Got Talent returned for its third live semi-final, but viewers were left feeling miffed as they believed that the first performance of the night had been given an “unfair advantage” as the show began. Hosts Ant and Dec shared some banter with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli before announcing the evening’s inaugural act. Ant mentioned: “Kicking us off tonight is a dangerous and risky pogo act who jumped over me and Dec at the auditions.” Dec quipped: “He did, so we know he can jump at least 6ft 5in in the air,” sending ripples of laughter through the crowd. Ant added: “Well it’s so impressive, some of it had to be pre-recorded.”

A staggering Duncan Murray began his act outside the auditorium, making his entry on a pogo stick, flanked by two others displaying similar bouncing prowess. However, despite the performance matching the wow-factor of his audition, fans watching from home frowned upon hearing parts of the act had been pre-recorded, claiming it gave Duncan an “unfair” lead in the expected live contest. Discontented followers aired their grievances on X (previously known as Twitter). One disappointed user pointed out: “If you can’t do your act 100% live you probably shouldn’t be in the live semi finals.”

One social media user was left scratching their head, tweeting: “I thought the whole point of the semi finals was that the contestants have to perform LIVE! Why is he allowed to pre-record some of his act? “How many attempts did he get to get it right? The other LIVE acts know get one chance!” Another viewer called out what they saw as an unfair advantage, posting: “So the first act is not doing it live! Surely that’s unfair on the other performers, what about the sword swallower will she be live ? ! ?”

In the same episode, Ant McPartlin gave judge Simon the cold shoulder in a cringe-worthy moment. While it got frosty between the pair, Simon and Ant have had more pleasant exchanges during this semi-final week, as earlier in the week, Simon extended his best wishes to Ant and congratulated him for welcoming his baby son into the world. Ant appreciated Simon’s kind words, as the live audience cheered to express their own congratulations for Ant following his family news. Ant and his wife Anne-Marie were ecstatic to welcome their newborn, Wilder, just a few short weeks ago. The excitement continues on ITV as Britain’s Got Talent brings us a week full of semi-finals, concluding on Friday, May 31. The successful acts will then battle it out in the much-anticipated live final on Sunday, June 2.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
