Privacy NoticeEastEnders icon Annette Badland, who played the role of Babe Smith in the BBC series from 2014 to 2017, has bagged a fabulous role in Netflix’s much-loved LGBT series Heartstopper. The 74 year old will be gracing screens once more when the show’s third season drops this October. The Netflix favourite, a coming of age drama based on Alice Oseman’s acclaimed novels, tackles the blossoming romance of high school students Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke). And Jonathan Bailey, who plays Bridgerton’s dashing Anthony, will join them as Jack Maddox, a starry Instagram author who becomes Charlie’s ultimate celeb infatuation, as revealed by the streaming giant.

Netflix UK and Ireland excitedly announced in April: “It’s not just Jonathan Bailey joining Heartstopper S3, we’re also welcoming Hayley Atwell as Nick’s Aunt Diane and Eddie Marsan as Charlie’s therapist Geoff! ” Anticipation is high for the October 3 premiere of Heartstopper’s next chapter. Earlier this year in February, Annette dazzled on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA, where her Apple TV+ comedy, Ted Lasso, picked up several award nods. The veteran actress shines in the role of Mae the Landlady, adding her touch of magic to the series crafted by Jason Sudeikis. The actress dazzled alongside her co-stars at the awards ceremony, where they were nominated for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series Award. Despite not clinching the award to The Bear, she made a splash at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, reports the Mirror.

Anette stunned onlookers in an ivory floor-length gown adorned with gold from the London-based fashion label Bombshell. Her hair was embellished with gold jewellery shaped like a tree branch complete with leaves, and she complemented her look with chic dangling earrings, a gold bangle, and a glittering gold clutch. Social media was abuzz with fans praising her red carpet transformation, showering her with compliments. One admirer exclaimed: “You look amazing…what a lady.” Another commented: “What a beauty! ” Praise continued as others described Annette as “stunning”, “beautiful”, and “gorgeous”, and her dress as “exquisite”. In a previous chat with Alan Titchmarsh, Annette expressed her desire to return to EastEnders, saying, “Yes. Yes, I would. I say ‘I’ll be back’ when? I don’t know.” She reiterated the sentiment on Loose Women last year, stating her openness to a comeback, albeit not on a permanent basis: “I would go back for a story but I wouldn’t go for a long journey”.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
