Privacy NoticeCarrie Johnson was the blushing bride when she arrived at her country-themed wedding to Boris Johnson. The pair held a wedding party on July 30 at Grade-I-listed mansion Daylesford House in the Cotswolds, owned by Tory donor and JCB chairman Lord Bamford. Carrie, 34, a former Conservative Party media official who has previously described herself as a political and climate activist, channelled her green credentials by wearing another rented dress at their second event. For the first wedding event at Westminster Cathedral on May 29 2021, Carrie rented an embroidered tulle gown for £45. This was created by Christos Costarellos, an Athens-based luxury designer who has a master’s degree in theatre costume design from the London College of Fashion.

My Wardrobe HQ is a site that appears to be a favourite of Carrie. For her second wedding event at Daylesford House in Gloucestershire, she rented another dress from the website that describes itself as ‘a social shopping platform with a sustainable heart’. Carrie’s second dress was a halter-neck, floor-skimming gown named Ruby by designer Savannah Miller. Savannah is used to moving in celebrity circles; she is a protégé of fashion superstars Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson and her sister is actress Sienna Miller.

This dress would have cost £3,500 to buy, however its rented day-rate is a much more pocket-friendly £25. It has been a tumultuous period for the Johnson’s which saw them get married and prepare to leave Number 10 Downing Street. However any worries were discarded at the door by the hay bales at the Johnson’s second wedding event. Inside Carrie and Boris Johnson’s wedding There were reportedly approximately 150-200 VIPs in attendance including former Neighbours star Holly Valance and journalist-sister of Boris, Rachel Johnson. Guests were greeted with a negroni, which is Carrie’s favourite cocktail, and champagne.

The Johnson wedding was low-key luxe affair, with the rustic theme being embraced by delighted guests who perched on hay bales and tucked into finger-food from a food-truck with a South African twist. Smoke and Braai, which was seen setting up on the Daylesford House grounds on Friday, typically serve street-food dishes such as smoked barbacoa lamb in handmade masa corn tortillas and locally-sourced wood-smoked pork topped with lime crema and pink pickled onions. Who was missing from the wedding Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak were nowhere to be found at the Johnson wedding. Their non-attendance is understandable, as both are embroiled in an increasingly bitter Tory leadership contest. Former health secretary Sajid Javid was also one of those notably not spotted arriving.

The Johnson’s were set to marry at Chequers, the prime minister’s grace-and-favour country home. However Boris Johnson’s resignation set about the change in venue. The couple then switched the wedding to the Bamford’s Georgian country house in Gloucestershire.
