Denise Suthoff, who goes by the username @weddingtalk901 online, has warned followers to stay clear of discussing these certain topics, as you could come off as impolite. A couple’s wedding is a special day in their lives, so it is important for guests to help make the occasion as magical as possible. So, here are some wedding guest don’ts that can keep you out of trouble with the newlyweds. Discussing the cost of the wedding Denise warns that enquiring about the financials of the wedding is often considered impolite, and “it’s just wrong” to ask how much their big day cost. Discussing the financial involvement of parents of the bride and groom is also frowned upon. Asking for the wedding date to fit around your schedule Guests should never ask for the wedding date to be adjusted, but surprisingly this happens often, claims the expert. Denise provided an example in the TikTok video, she said: “Can you make sure not to have your wedding on October 5th? We have a trip planned then.” She explained that it’s rude to ask the couple to change the date in order to accommodate a guest’s schedule. Asking about other guests, children and the wedding ring Discussing certain elements of the wedding can be personal and are strongly advised against. For example, a guest should never question why the couple didn’t invite certain people, as many things are taken into consideration when limiting the list. She also claims invasive questions about when the couple may expect a child are discouraged. Quizzing the bride about the cost of the engagement ring, or how many diamonds it has are also considered a big “no”.

Asking what table you’re sitting at Another question you should never ask the bride and groom is “what table am I sitting at?” According to the expert, arranging the seating process is lengthy for the couple, so on their special day find your own spot, or ask another guest to help you. The questions listed by Denise are inappropriate to ask on a couple’s wedding day, so avoid them at all costs. “Bride, these are rude and ridiculous questions, and don’t feel like you have to answer any of them — this is your day, do things the way that you want to do them,” she added.
