Privacy Notice The voting percentages for the final of Britain’s Got Talent have been revealed after Sydnie Christmas bagged the win during Sunday (2 June) evening’s grand final – pocketing the whopping £250,000 cash prize while also securing a slot to sing at the Royal Variety Performance later this year. It has been confirmed that Sydnie took 27% of the public vote after wowing judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli with her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow during the final. While Magician Jack Rhodes, who placed second, had 15.8% of the public vote behind him. Troupe Haribow had the lowest votes of the evening with 3.1%. But as the winner was revealed, some fans claimed the show was a ‘fix’, claiming that Sydnie having the last slot during the final meant she would get more votes. While it was revealed that she has previous experience on stage from working on a cruise ship and in a German stage production of Starlight Express.

Talking to OK! about how tough the fix claims have been following the victory, Sydnie admitted that it has tainted her win slightly. “It wouldn’t have mattered if I’d gone first. I don’t know what to say, soul-destroying isn’t it?” “It’s difficult, it takes it away from how hard the journey was or how rewarding the success is. They just think that, ‘Oh, it’s obvious it was given to her.’ It really wasn’t. I had to graft. I had to really graft and believe and want. I’m focussing on the people that did support me because I owe it all to them, without them it wouldn’t have happened.”

Britain’s Got Talent is no stranger to fix rows and often sees backlash from fans over which act scoops up the prize. And appearing to hint at the backlash on Sydnie’s previous experience during the final, judge Simon confirmed that none of the acts in the show were ‘professionals’. He said moments before the winner was unveiled: “Winning is important, but, you know, getting into this final and importantly, doing something great, will actually make a difference. “You know what was interesting? I worked out, I don’t think a single act tonight were professionals. They all had a regular job, yeah, and they did something extraordinary.” Sydnie got through her first audition after Amanda Holden pressed her golden buzzer, giving her an automatic place in the semi-finals.
