Privacy NoticeA Britain’s Got Talent favourite is still in hospital after a terrifying injury sustained during the grand finale of this year’s competition. A performer from the Ssaulabi Performance Troupe was whisked away to hospital just as the ITV talent show wrapped up earlier this month. The injury reportedly occurred during a daring aerial stunt in the live final, which ended with vocalist Sydnie Christmas taking the 2024 title. The mishap unfolded when two members of the Korean martial arts ensemble accidentally crashed into each other mid-air instead of breaking a wooden block. Alesha Dixon, one of the judges, spotted one of the troupe members hobbling off stage after their act. It has now emerged that the injured performer remains in hospital, undergoing rehabilitation to walk once more.

On Chanwoo Jeong’s Instagram, fans saw the injured star in his hospital bed at St Mary’s Hospital in London, his legs swathed in bandages while he worked on stretching exercises with a resistance band. Another photo showed him bravely standing with the aid of a walker, taking tentative steps alongside a healthcare worker. In an emotional Instagram update last week, the South Korean artist expressed his feelings about the incident. He wrote: “I never imagined that I would actually get hurt while doing the obstacle course, but I think I got hurt unintentionally as my already severe fatigue accumulated so much. On the one hand, I’m so sorry, and on the other hand, I’m grateful. And I’m grateful to my professors, coaches, classmates, and juniors for helping and worrying about me. It’s true that I was hurt badly, but I’ll hold on!”.

One of the noticeable accidents on stage happened to a member of Ssaulabi Performance Troupe during the live final, leaving fans in shock. The incident was addressed ambiguously by a spokesperson who said: “During (the) live final, a member of Ssaulabi Performance Troupe was injured. He was quickly seen by our onsite medical team before going to hospital for further treatment. All at BGT wish him a speedy recovery.” The performer, identified as Chanwoo, had previously given fans a glimpse of his bandaged legs in bed following the accident. Fans may recall an earlier snap where he can be seen surrounded by Paddington-themed gifts and his injured leg in a painful-looking brace. Those who tuned into the show were quick to notice the mishap during the live final. Some even took to social media to voice their concern and opinions. One fan said: “Did one of the performers just break their foot looked serious #bgtfinal.”

Another added: “This is ever so cool but did I just see mateyboi break his foot and crawl off? That’s gotta hurt #bgtfinal.” Another view was: “These martial arts peeps should win tbf I’ve not seen half these people before and this is actual talent….. Plus one has literally crawled off stage and probably broken his foot in the process so fair play #BGT.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
