Privacy NoticeKathy Bates has now confirmed she lost some of her weight with the help of Ozempic. It comes just weeks after the American Horror Story actress opened up about dropping seven stone within the space of several years by making changes to her diet and lifestyle. In the new interview with People, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that taking Ozempic—a medication prescribed to adults with type 2 diabetes— helped her lose an additional 1.4 stone. Kathy, who is currently starring in CBS’ Matlock reboot, previously credited her body transformation to eating well and exercising regularly, but rumours she’d been using Ozempic had been swirling for weeks.

However, she told People: “There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic, but I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic.” Kathy went on to say she started making improvements to her health after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes seven years ago. She said: “I ate because I was afraid, and I ate because it was a FU to my self-esteem. Diabetes runs in my family, and I’d seen what my father had gone through. “He had had a leg amputation. One of my sisters is dealing with it very seriously, and it terrified me. It scared me straight.”

It saw the star embark on a health and fitness journey – enabling her to ditch fast food and stop eating by 8pm each night. The Titanic actress also admitted she used to eat unhealthily, often enjoying many Cokes and pizzas. However, she’s said to be feeling great following her weight loss, telling Variety earlier this year she had more stamina at work. “It’s helped me tremendously that, over the last six or seven years, I’ve lost 100 pounds,” she told t he publication. “I don’t think I’ve been this slim since I was in college.” Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
