Moving through to the lounge you’ll discover a room with a similar colour scheme, with cream walls, sofa and brown carpets. There’s a cream table sitting centre stage atop a blue carpet, and Gazza’s TV is in the perfect position for him to sit back and watch all of the Euros action. Football memorabilia is present in the home, including a photo of Paul’s iconic Euros ’96 goal. Also present in the lounge-meets-diner is a large glass dining table with chairs with plump cream cushions on pushed underneath. In a nod to the surrounding area, with Bournemouth and Sandbanks a stone’s throw away, Paul has a bowl of shells and beachy items on his coffee table.

There are also candles dotted about and trinkets, including a globe and a porcelain owl. The Dorset-based flat has an outdoor area too, including a balcony with overlooks stunning foliage and bushes of purple flowers. After an on-off battle with alcohol addiction – which led him to have anti-alcohol stomach implants and treatment in rehab – Paul now lives a quiet life at his home. Despite his thick Geordie accent, Paul is very softly spoken, gentlemanly and looks well for his 54 years. While some of this is down to a touch of Botox, his stint in Italy’s I’m A Celeb… has clearly done him the world of good.
