We’ve had a sneak peek inside the Papier advent calendar (Image: Laura Mulley)If you’re over the usual chocolate advent calendars and not really into beauty or jewellery ones, then Papier’s 2024 December countdown is definitely worth checking out – it’s one of the best advent calendars I’ve come across this year. After the success of Papier’s 2023 calendar, which sold out within days of its launch, the chic card and stationery brand has released another advent calendar for 2024. The 24 Doors of Desk Delights is currently still up for grabs on the Papier website for £140, with a real value of over £200 – including 12 unique products inside that you can’t find anywhere else. As a massive stationery lover who regularly purchases Papier’s personalised notecards and notebooks, both for myself and as presents for others, this was one advent calendar I just had to see for myself – and, spoiler alert, I wasn’t let down. Here are my thoughts after opening every door… READ MORE: ‘I’ve got my hands on this year’s Elemis advent calendar and it’s a must for skincare fans’ READ MORE: ‘I’m a beauty editor and this is the advent calendar I’m most excited about this year’

24 Doors of Desk Delights, £140 from Papier (worth over £200) Pros Looks gorgeous and can be reused as storage The items inside are look and feel expensive and high quality Lots of genuinely useful things inside that you’ll keep for years Cons A few of the boxes contain similar items (i.e. pens, page markers) Not the greatest value vs cost compared to some of the other luxe calendars on the market The inner boxes might not last more than one year
£140 but worth over £200

The packaging Papier’s 24 Doors of Desk Delights is designed to resemble a writing desk, complete with a lift-up lid, swing-out side drawers and a large slide-out bottom drawer. Adorned in silver drawings and tied up with a ribbon, it looks incredibly luxe and makes a beautiful gift, reports the Mirror. Inside the advent calendar, you’ll find 24 vibrantly decorated boxes. Although the inner boxes are a bit on the flimsy side and probably won’t be reusable, the outer box is quite sturdy and can easily be repurposed to store paperwork, cards or stationery after December (just be mindful not to lean on the side drawers when they’re open!). The contents I’m not kidding when I say that I was genuinely taken aback each time I opened a box. As a stationery enthusiast who loves organisation aids like to-do lists and weekly planners, everything inside is incredibly useful and also looks very luxe and stylish. I won’t go through all the contents (you can check it out online if you want), but some of my favourite items include tiny notecards (I already use Papier’s), a luxurious gold metal bookmark and a funky pen that’s a huge step up from the black biros I usually use. I honestly think I’ll use everything inside, except maybe a cardboard photo frame, and it’s a must-have for anyone who relies on to-do lists, markers and motivational messages to stay focused. The only downside I’d point out is that there are a few very similar items inside: three boxes contain pens, for example, and there are several small notebooks.
You’ll find 24 stationery treats inside

24 Doors of Desk Delights, £140 from Papier (worth over £200) The value The Papier 24 Doors of Desk Delights advent calendar is priced at £140, but the brand claims that the goodies inside are worth over £200, saving you a cool £60. It’s hard to put a price on the value of this box, especially as half of the items were specially made for it, but it’s packed with delightful little treats that are worth every penny. It would also make a fantastic gift for students. Other advent calendars that have caught my eye this year include Elemis’s The Ultimate Skincare Advent Calendar, which costs £95 but is worth a whopping £537, and Charlotte Tilbury’s Charlotte’s Beauty Treasure Chest of Love, which I predict will fly off the shelves in no time.
